DeckMate is not a software company's idea of what a builder needs. It was written by one, in Melbourne, to solve his own problem — and then opened up to everyone else.
Quoting a deck properly takes about 45 minutes. Measure it, work out the joists and bearers, count the stumps, price the boards, add the labour, type it into something that does not look like a text message. Do that after a full day on the tools, three times a week, and you start guessing instead. Guessing is how you end up building a deck for free.
So the tool draws the deck, works out the timber, prices it off your own rates, and puts it on a page with your business name at the top. Five minutes, before you have left the driveway.
The quotes in this tool are the same ones I send. If a number in here is wrong, it is wrong on my jobs too — which is the only reason you can trust it.

DeckMate is run by Skyline Carpentry Pty Ltd, a registered Victorian building company. We are a working carpentry business first — the software came out of the job, not the other way around.
DB-L 73233 is the domestic builder registration held by Skyline Carpentry. It covers our own work. Carpenters who quote through the DeckMate marketplace are separate businesses, each responsible for their own registration, insurance and workmanship — check theirs the same way you would check ours.
The rates that ship with DeckMate are Melbourne trade buy prices, not RRP off a hardware shelf, and the labour hours come from decks we have actually built and timed. That is also why the public price guide on this site changed in 2026: the old figures were placeholders sitting 25 to 45 per cent above what a deck really costs here, so they were replaced with real ones.
Every rate in the app is editable. Yours will not be identical to ours — your supplier, your crew, your margin. The point is to start from something real instead of a blank field.
